I assume that you have realized that it is necessary to take the derivative to get at the slope, and that you have calculated the derivative. If you do this, you get a cubic polynomial. This is probably where you are stuck. To continue the problem, you need to review the 'fundamental theorem of algebra' in which it is shown that if putting x equal to a makes the polynomial equal to zero, then (x-a) is a factor of the polynomial. Can you find a value of a that does that, and once you have found it, can you see how to proceed?
the quick and easy calculus is a great way to get a refreshing course before entering queens engineering and calculus, but the way that help is provided for the examples is not really helpful....steps on how to solve the problems and examples GIVEN before examples we have to solve would be largely appriciatied
